From time to time, we will highlight local artists and their work, particularly those whose art is displayed in the restaurant or on our products.
Douglas Po’oloa Tolentino is a Hawaiian artist, musician and genealogist. His creations are filled with “koana”, Hawaian symbolism, and rich cultural information. His subject matter is inspired by his ‘ohana and their daily lives. He works in all mediums, acrylics, watercolors, pastels and most recently print making.
Po’oloa is a member of the Honolulu Printmakers and produces prints in lithograph, linoleum block, collagraph and drypoint. Po’oloa’s works are collected internationally and can be found in many island homes and businesses.
He entertains weekly with his band, Pa’ahana, at the Halekulani’s House Without A Key. His beautiful falsetto voice and exciting ukulele style is the perfect background for the sun setting on Diamond Head in Waikiki. Po’oloa lives in Kailua with his ‘ohana.
